Wedding Checklist for the Bride: Tasks by Stage

A wedding checklist for the bride covers four tracks at once: the shared plan with your partner, your attire and beauty, your wedding party, and the personal logistics of the day itself. Done in order, it keeps you from carrying everything in your head. Use the stages below, and mark each task as yours, your partner's or shared.
Your four tracks
| Track | What it covers | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| Shared plan | Budget, guests, venue, vendors | Both |
| Attire and beauty | Dress, alterations, accessories, hair, makeup | Bride |
| Wedding party | Asking, outfits, shower and bachelorette | Bride |
| Day-of logistics | Packing, schedule, emergency kit | Bride and helper |
12 months out: set the foundation
- Agree on budget, guest range and style with your partner.
- Choose two or three possible dates and start touring venues.
- Start an inspiration board you both can see.
- Decide whether to hire a planner or coordinator.
- Ask the people you want in your wedding party.
9 to 11 months: attire and big bookings
- Start dress shopping and ask about lead times and alterations.
- Book photographer, caterer and music with your partner.
- Draft the guest list with households and addresses.
- Choose bridesmaid attire and give a color or style direction.
- Discuss honeymoon destination and budget.
6 to 8 months: details you will love
- Order your dress or confirm the final choice.
- Book hair and makeup and schedule a trial.
- Plan the bridal shower with the host and send a guest list.
- Choose rings, accessories and shoes you can walk in.
- Decide on the ceremony structure and write or request vows.
3 to 5 months: the personal checklist
- Send invitations and track RSVPs.
- Schedule the first dress fitting and hair and makeup trial.
- Plan the bachelorette with the maid of honor.
- Confirm the registry and a thank-you plan.
- Review vendor timelines with your partner.
1 to 2 months: closing out
- Final dress fitting and pick-up date.
- Confirm hair and makeup arrival times.
- Share the wedding-day schedule with the wedding party.
- Break in shoes and test the full look.
- Prepare the pack-and-go list and an emergency kit.
The final week
- Confirm every vendor arrival time.
- Pack bags by destination and name who carries each one.
- Steam or press attire and prepare a garment bag.
- Give your helper a contact sheet and the schedule.
- Sleep, hydrate and eat. The plan is done.
The wedding morning
Have breakfast scheduled, not improvised. Keep water, snacks, the emergency kit and phone chargers in one bag. Hand your helper the contact sheet so questions never reach you. Photos of details such as rings, shoes and invitations go on the shot list so the photographer knows what to look for.
One checklist for both of you
The Ever After Wedding Planner has a 120-task Checklist tab with a suggested due date calculated from your wedding date, an owner field (Both, Bride, Groom, Parents) and a status. Wedding Party, Bridal Shower and Bachelorette tabs keep your people organized, while the Packing Bride tab and the Emergency Kit tab hold the personal list for the morning. You change the owner field when a task moves to someone else, and the Dashboard shows how many tasks are done. A printable planner PDF is included, for $34.80 one time. Edit the sample dates before you rely on them.
What to delegate, and to whom
Brides often carry more than they need to. A short delegation list protects your energy and your wedding morning:
| Task | Good owner | What to hand over |
|---|---|---|
| Vendor arrival questions | Maid of honor or planner | Contact sheet and schedule |
| Gift and card collection | A trusted relative | A box and a list of where it goes |
| Decor setup and breakdown | Friends or the venue team | A photo and a written layout |
| Getting everyone to the ceremony | A wedding party member | A pickup schedule |
| Returning rentals | A family member | A list with return times |
Write the owner into the checklist and share the plan. When something moves to someone else, you can stop thinking about it. That is the point of a checklist: it holds the details so you can be present.
Keep it light
A bride's checklist should reduce pressure, not add to it. Pick three tasks a week and let the rest wait. If something is only a nice idea, put it in a Notes list and revisit it next month.
